Kansas State Women's Basketball Recruiting Class Ranked Nationally

MANHATTAN, KAN. - The Kansas State women's basketball program's 2001-2002 incoming recruiting class has been ranked the 21st-best recruiting class in the nation and the third-best in the Big 12 according to the national recruiting service All Star Girls Report (ASGR).
The 2001-2002 class of Chelsea Domenico, Kari Hanson, Brie Madden, Megan Mahoney and Kendra Wecker will join the Wildcats this fall. The fivesome's accolades include four high school Gatorade Players of the Year from their respective states, three USA Today Players of the Year, three Miss Basketball's honors and a WBCA High School All-American.
Domenico, a 5-foot-6 guard from Thornton, Colo., was a fourth team Parade All-American, addition to being a finalist for USA Today Colorado Player of the Year.
Hanson, a 5-foot-8 guard from Bismarck, N.D., was honored as the USA Today and Gatorade North Dakota Player of the Year and as the state's Miss Basketball.
Madden, a 6-foot-3 forward/center from Arlington, Texas, was honored as the district defensive MVP while playing for nationally-ranked Mansfield High School this past year.
Mahoney, a 6-foot guard/forward from Sturgis, S.D., collected Gatorade and USA Today South Dakota Player of the Year and Miss Basketball South Dakota accolades.
Wecker, a 5-foot-11 forward from Marysville, Kan., received USA Today, Gatorade and Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Player of the Year honors, in addition to being named Miss Kansas Basketball and a WBCA High School All-American.
The ASGR rankings listed Tennessee and Rutgers with the top two recruiting classes in the nation. In addition to Kansas State, the only other Big 12 schools listed in the Top 25 were Texas (11th), Nebraska (19th), and Baylor (24th).
