Wildcats Announce 2000 Team Awards

Manhattan, Kan. - The 2000 Big 12 North Division Champion and 2001 SBC Cotton Bowl Classic Champion Kansas State football team announced its 2000 season award winners tonight at its annual awards ceremony, held in McCain Auditorium on the K-State campus.
Senior defensive end Chris Johnson earned Defensive Most Valuable Player honors, while senior quarterback Jonathan Beasley and All-America senior wide receiver Quincy Morgan will share the Offensive MVP award. It is the second consecutive year Morgan has been named Offensive MVP after winning the award outright in 1999. All-America return specialist Aaron Lockett and All-America placekicker Jamie Rheem share Special Teams MVP honors.
Kansas State finished the 2000 season with an 11-3 record and ranked No. 8 in the nation in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 9 by the Associated Press. The Wildcats have won 11 games in each of the last four seasons, a feat matched only by Florida State which has won 11 games in each of the last five seasons.
