Kansas State Loses To Northwestern, 59-55

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Jimmy Maley scored 15 points, all 3-pointers, andAaron Jennings added 15 as Northwestern beat Kansas State 59-55 Saturday nightfor its first road win of the season.
Kansas State (1-3) had the chance to take the lead with 9 seconds left, butGilson DeJesus missed a 3-pointer. TJ Parker then made two free throws with 7.9seconds left to seal Northwestern's win.
Northwestern (3-1) took its biggest lead of the second half at 53-47 onAaron Jennings 3-pointer with 4:05 left. But Kansas State hit two 3-pointers tocut the lead to 53-51 with 1:58 left.
It was the first time that Kansas State had lost its home opener since 1993.
Northwestern's first four baskets were 3-pointers on the way to a 16-8 leadin the first half. Kansas State then held Northwestern without a field goal forsix minutes and eventually went up 29-25 with a minute left before Jimmy Maleyhit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it 29-28 at halftime.
Jitim Young and Parker had 12 points each for Northwestern. Frank Richardsled Kansas State with 16.
