KSU Women's Golfers Travel to Tucson For Mountain View Collegiate

Tucson, Ariz. - The Kansas State women's golf team hits the road for its first tournament action in over two weeks when the Wildcats travel to Tucson, Ariz., this weekend for the Mountain View Collegiate.
The two-day tournament will will be played at the 5,921-yard, par-72 Mountain View Golf Course. After a practice round on Friday, the teams will play 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday.
The 14-team field features two other Big 12 teams, Colorado and Baylor, along with four squads ranked among the top 50 in the nation by Golfstat. Arizona State comes in as the favorite, ranked No. 7 nationally, while No. 29 Baylor, No. 35 Idaho and No. 43 Colorado State are also among the field.
Ranked No. 61 in the nation, the Wildcats are led by Christine Boucher, who is ranked No. 9 in the Big 12 in stroke average (75.88) and has secured a pair of top-10 finishes this spring. The sophomore is buoyed by senior Edie Murdoch, who is ranked No. 27 in the league in stroke average (78.44).
K-State, which finished second among the nine teams at last year's Mountain View Collegiate, comes into this season's tournament with the defending individual champion. Elise Carpentier won her first career event in Tucson with a 1-over-par 145 (70-75).
The Wildcats finished second in the team competition to Colorado in 2001.
The teams are scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. (MST) on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. (MST) on Sunday. Results will be available on www.k-statesports.com following each day's competition.
