MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Marc Dunn threw for two touchdowns - both on one-playdrives - and ran for another score as Kansas State beat Eastern Illinois 63-13on Saturday.
Rashad Washington returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown and setup another score with a blocked punt for Kansas State. The Wildcats (3-0)scored twice before taking their first snap - on Danny Morris' 3-yard return ofWashington's blocked kick and Terence Newman's 95-yard kickoff return.
Quarterback Tony Romo was strong early for Eastern Illinois (0-2),completing 13 of 14 passes for 120 yards and a TD in the first quarter. Butafter that, Romo threw three interceptions - two leading to touchdowns,including Washington's TD return for a 50-13 lead in the third quarter.
Kansas State didn't take control of the Panthers, who came in ranked No. 8in Division I-AA, until the second quarter. That's when Dunn broke the gameopen, running 2 yards for a TD and throwing a 19-yard scoring pass to ThomasHill less than two minutes later to put Kansas State up 29-13.
Dunn finished 3-for-4 for 67 yards, playing only the first half and oneseries late in the game. Third-stringer Jeff Schwinn started the second halfand threw a 41-yard TD pass to James Terry midway through the third quarter fora 56-13 lead.
Hill's scoring catch from Dunn came one play after Eastern Illinois punterTom Schofield threw incomplete - and well short of the first down - onfourth-and-8 from his own 19.
Darren Sproles scored on a 54-yard run and Taco Wallace caught a 58-yard TDpass from Dunn later in the second, giving the Wildcats a 43-13 halftime lead.Sproles' run came two plays after Bobby Wallace intercepted Romo's pass andreturned it 31 yards to the Wildcats 40.
Morris scored on a blocked punt return for the second straight game. He alsoreturned one 16 yards for a score in last week's 68-0 rout of Louisiana-Monroe.
After Andre Raymond's 30-yard run - the first TD scored against the Wildcatsthis season - cut the margin to 8-6, Newman's return gave the Wildcats a 15-6lead. But Romo led the Panthers back downfield on their next possession andthrew a 4-yard TD pass to Will Bumphus to cut the Wildcats' lead to 15-13.
Kansas State's last score came on Daniel Davis' 6-yard run early in thefourth quarter.
