MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Marc Dunn threw three touchdown passes and TerenceNewman scored on offense and special teams as Kansas State defeatedLouisiana-Monroe 68-0 Saturday night.
After punting the first time they had the ball, the Wildcats (2-0) took a47-0 halftime lead by scoring touchdowns on each of their next five possessionsand adding TDs on a punt return and a return of a blocked punt.
It was Louisiana-Monroe's largest margin of defeat since they re-enteredDivision I-A in 1994.
The Indians (0-2), who lost 62-7 in 1998 in their only other trip toManhattan, reached Kansas State territory once, when reserve quarterback StevenJyles scrambled 1 yard to the 49 with 4:46 left.
Kansas State outgained the Indians 485 yards to 160 and even scored when theclock didn't run. Given an extra play with 0:00 showing when the Indians wereflagged for intentional grounding on the final play of the first quarter,Newman went 40 yards with a punt return to make it 28-0.
Dunn, who also scored on a 1-yard run, was 7-of-10 for 147 yards and threeTDs.
The Indians, who are 8-46 on the road since 1994, had 38 total yards in thefirst half to Kansas State's 242.
Dunn's first TD pass went 17 yards to James Terry. After Andy Klockepartially blocked a Louisiana-Monroe punt, Dunn capped a 2-play drive with a1-run scoring run.
After another short Louisiana-Monroe punt, Dunn connected with Newman on a51-yard touchdown. Standing on the Indians' 46, Dunn hit Newman for anotherscore.
Newman, an All-Big 12 cornerback who had never before scored an offensivetouchdown, then made it 28-0 with his punt return.
Early in the second quarter, Carlos Alsup blocked another Indians punt andDanny Morris returned it 14 yards for a TD.
Newman intercepted Daniel DaPrato's pass on the Louisiana-Monroe 17 a fewminutes later and returned it 7 yards before fumbling. Josh Buhl picked up theball for the Wildcats and took it another 8 yards to the 2-yard line and thenSaba took it in for a 40-0 lead.
A 260-pound freshman fullback, Saba has three carries in his college careerand all three have gone for 2-yard TD runs.
The Wildcats' final TD of the half came on Nick Hoheisel's 3-yard run.Morris then got his second TD on a 3-yard run as the second- and third-teamersmade it 61-0 with a 10-play, 61-yard drive in the third.
