Koehn Reaches 1,000 Career Points In 94-31 Win Over Sacramento State

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Kendra Wecker had 20 points and 16 rebounds for her 26th career double-double, and No. 12 Kansas State beat winless Sacramento State, 94-31, Friday night in the first round of the Commerce Bank Wildcat Classic.
Laurie Koehn, six of eight from 3-point range, also had 20. Nicole Ohlde and Brie Madden added 12 points apiece for Kansas State (4-2). The Wildcats won for the 11th straight time in their own tournament and got their 22nd consecutive regular-season home victory.
Tyeisha Brown led Sacramento State (0-6) with 11 points. The Hornets had nine turnovers in the first eight minutes as the Wildcats pulled away quickly.
Ohlde hit a layup and two free throws to ignite a 17-2 run with 15:48 to go in the first half for a 28-8 lead. Ohlde was perfect in the spurt, making two baskets and six free throws.
Kansas State led 52-22 at the break, then scored 13 straight points to start the second half. Koehn reached 1,000 career points on a three-pointer at the 19:08 minute mark of the second half.
The Wildcats will play Saint Louis (5-1) on Saturday, Dec. 6 in the championship game at 3 p.m. Texas-Pan American (4-1) and Sacramento State (0-6) will meet in the consolation game at 1 p.m. All games played at Bramlage Coliseum.
