Kansas State Named No. 3 Seed In The East Region

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State women's basketball team's season will continue in the "Big Dance" when the Wildcats received a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon. With the No. 3 seed, K-State will be the host of a subregional with No. 6 Arizona, No. 11 Notre Dame and No. 14 Harvard beginning March 23 in Bramlage Coliseum.
Tickets for the games are available through the Kansas State Ticket Office at 1-800-221-CATS. All-session reserved bench seating is available at $18 for adults and $10 for K-State students and youth. All-session tickets are good for admission to all three games of the event, including Tuesday's second-round on March 25. Individual-session tickets will go on sale the first day of the tournament, March 23.
Kansas State, 28-4 overall, the No. 3 seed in the East Region, will battle 14th-seed Harvard (22-4) in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday. The Crimson received the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by finishing first in the Ivy League. Harvard will be making its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in school history.
K-State is coming off a semifinal appearance in the Big 12 Conference Tournament and second-place finish in the league's regular season. The Wildcats joined three other Big 12 teams as hosts of subregionals. Kansas State will make its seventh NCAA appearance and has a 5-6 record all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
In the first game Sunday, sixth-seeded Arizona (22-8) will tip off with 11th-seeded Notre Dame (19-10). Arizona reached the finals of the Pac-10 Tournament, losing to Stanford, 59-49. The Wildcats have won six of their last seven games going into NCAA action.
Notre Dame will make its 10th appearance and eighth straight in the NCAA Tournament after reaching the semifinals of the Big East Tournament. The Fighting Irish enter the tournament having won four of their last five games.
The winner of the subregional will advance to the East Regional in Dayton, Ohio, at University of Dayton Arena.
