Kansas State Finishes 12th in Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Kansas State men's golf team posted a three-round total of 889 to finish 12th in the Louisiana Classics at the par-72, 7,002-yard Oakbourne Country Club.
Sophomore Matt Van Cleave led the way for the Wildcats, carding a 1-under-par 215 to tie for 13th. Juniors Aaron Watkins and Greg Douglas shot a pair of 224s to tie for 44th. Freshman Josh Persons tied for 56th with a 227, and junior A.J. Elgert tied for 73rd with a 232.
SMU shot a 6-under-par 858 as a team to win the team title. Tulsa was three strokes back in second place, and Texas A&M finished third at four-over par. Tulsa's David Inglis completed the tournament with an eight-under-par 208 to win individual medalist honors.
The Wildcats will head to the west coast for a week of spring break practice and return to competition on March 24-25 in the Stevinson Ranch Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado at the Stevinson Ranch Golf Course, in Stevinson, Calif.
