Women's Golf Receives Third Straight NCAA Bid

Manhattan, Kan. - The Kansas State women's golf team has received a bid for the 2003 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship Regionals, the NCAA golf committee announced Monday.
The Wildcats travel to Lincoln, Neb., May 8-10 for the Central Regional. The regional is hosted by Nebraska and is played at the Firethorn Golf Club. K-State is the regional's No. 18 seed. Other teams in the Central Regional include California, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, New Mexico, Tulsa, Purdue, Oklahoma, Missouri, Baylor, TCU, Kent State, Michigan State, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Indiana, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Yale and Southern.
"We are excited to receive a bid," head coach Kristi Knight said. "I thought we should be ranked a little higher, but we will just have to go to Nebraska and prove everyone wrong."
The Wildcats head to the Central Regional for the third straight year. The 'Cats finished in 15th place in both 2001 and 2002.
Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each region to the 2003 NCCA Women's Golf Championships, hosted by Purdue at the Birch Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind., May 20-23.
