Buhl Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

Buhl, the Big 12's leading tackler with 59 stops, turned in a stellar performance vs. the Minutemen, equalling his career high for total tackles for the second straight week with 18 stops, including nine solos, as the Wildcats limited UMass to just 191 yards of total offense.

For the year, Buhl has been involved in 59 total tackles, nearly twice as many as K-State's No. 2 tackler Bryan Hickman (32 total stops), and has posted double-figuer stops in each game. At his current pace of nearly 15 stops per game, he would end the regular season tops on K-State's single-season tackle chart with 192, just ahead of National Football Foundation College Hall of Famer Gary Spani and Danny Lankas with 178 in 1977 and 1967, respectively.
It is the first Player of the Week award for Buhl and the first of the season for the Wildcats. During 2002, K-State players earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors five times (three defense, two special teams).
