K-State Falls to No. 20 Oklahoma, 61-49
Jan 24, 2004 | Men's Basketball

The Sooners shot just 36 percent, yet still found a way to win against the Wildcats.
Oklahoma (11-4, 1-3 Big 12) desperately needed this win after getting off to its worst start in conference play since Billy Tubbs' first season as coach of the Sooners in 1980.
The Sooners hadn't won in three weeks, a four-game skid with an average margin of 18 points. Before Saturday's game, it was announced that starting forward Kevin Bookout would miss the rest of the season after deciding to have shoulder surgery.
Kansas State (9-6, 1-3); however, was unable to keep the Sooners mired in their current skid.
Jarrett Hart had 16 points for to lead the Wildcats.
Detrick, went 8-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range.
He was the only Sooner to score in double figures, however, as Oklahoma continued its offensive struggles. Freshman Drew Lavender, the team's leading scorer, had eight points.
The Sooners defense forced the Wildcats into 14 turnovers in the first half. Although Kansas State committed only seven turnovers in the second half, the Wildcats never cut the Sooners lead to single digits.
Jarrett Hart had 16 points for Kansas State, which has lost 18 consecutive conference road games.
Kansas State will return to action on Wednesday, January 28, when the Wildcats host in-state rival Kansas at 8:00 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum.
