Late Comeback Lifts K-State to 6-4 win Saturday over Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Josh Heinrich’s two-run double in the top of the ninth sent Saturday’s game into extra innings and Kansas State scored two runs in the top of the 11th inning as the No. 35 Wildcats came from behind to beat No. 26 Missouri, 6-4, at Taylor Stadium to guarantee a series win against the Tigers.

The Tigers upped their lead to 4-1 with a run in the bottom of the fourth but would not score for the remainder of the game. Torres settled down and retired 10 of the last 12 batters he faced and left the game after 8.1 innings of work. After two straight strikeouts, Heinrich lifted a fly ball into right center that dropped in between two outfielders, scoring Murphy and pinch-runner Sean Danielson to tie the game at four.
In the 11th, the Wildcats scored two run to take the lead without ever picking up a base hit. Four walks, sandwiched by a fielders choice, plated the game-winning run as Terry Blunt drew a bases-loaded walk to score Ryan Saltzgaber. A wild pitch then plated Heinrich as the Wildcats took a 6-4 lead.
