“It’s only the first day,” head coach Kristi Knight said. “We didn’t play great and we didn’t play terrible. If we want to have a good tournament, we’ve got to be sharper.”
Senior Christine Boucher leads the Wildcats with a 3-over 75 to tie for 13th. Senior Karen Quintelier is one stroke behind, tying for 21st with a 76. One stroke behind Quintelier is freshman Helene Robert, tying for 28th. Juniors Stephanie Limoges and Sarah Heffel are tied for 44th, with an 80, and tied for 52nd, with an 82, respectively.
“Christine (Boucher) struggled with her putting and Sarah (Heffel) and Steph (Limoges) struggled with their ball striking,” Knight said. “Karen (Quintelier) had a steady round and so did Helene (Robert).”
The Wildcats will play the second round at Pebble Creek Saturday.
“Tomorrow is a new day,” Knight said. “We know the potential to do well is there. We just need to be sharper.”
The Wildcats continue play at the Big 12 Championship Saturday with an 8 a.m. start off the first tee. For complete coverage of the Big 12 Championship, please visit www.big12sports.com.
