Wildcats Sit in Eighth as Second Round Play is Suspended

Head Coach Tim Norris was pleased with what his team could do through 27 holes against a talented 18-team field.
“Today was good and hopefully we can play good tomorrow,” Norris said. “There are a lot of good golfers here, and I expected more low scores again Tuesday.”

Senior Ben Kern bounced back from his third-round score of 85 two weeks ago at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, leading the Wildcats after a three-under 69 first-round performance, and is currently tied for 13th.
Sophomore Kyle Yonke is tied for 25th after firing a 70 in the first round, continuing his success from the Alister MacKenzie in which he fired a 72-71-73216 en route to a 32nd-place finish.
Freshman Joe Kinney, getting his first start since the Memphis Intercollegiate Oct. 3-4, recorded his lowest first-round score this season as he fired a one-under 70, and is tied for 34th.
The Wildcats will wrap up the Barona Collegiate Cup Tuesday. Second-round play will resume at 7 a.m. PDT, with the third round to immediately follow. Results will be posted on www.k-statesports.com as soon as they are available.
