Van Cleave Selected as Big 12 Golfer of the Month for February

Van Cleave is the first Wildcat to receive the honor in the nine-year history of the Big 12 Conference. At the conclusion of the 2003-04 season, Van Cleave was honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Recipient. He was also a selected to the 2004 Big 12 Men’s Golf Academic First Team.
For his career, Van Cleave has played in 30 events for the Wildcats and 25 in a row. Van Cleave led the Wildcats for the second consecutive fall with a stroke average of 72.33 and currently paces the squad with an average of 72.4 in 21 rounds. His current stroke average would rank first all time in K-State history if the season ended today. Former Wildcat Aaron Watkins (2001-04) currently owns the school record with a stroke average of 73.34 in 2002-03. This season, Van Cleave has picked up five top-10 finishes and three in a row to lead the team. He has also led the Wildcats in scoring in five of the seven events.
