Overall, three Wildcats finished play among the top 20 golfers.
Cummins and Kern, seniors who have both competed at the par-72, 6,950-yard TPC of Myrtle Beach previously, finished tied for 10th and 12th, respectively. Freshman Robert Streb stands tied for 18th after shooting a two-round total of 3-over par 147.
Kansas State, which entered the tournament with just one sub-300 round so far this spring, shot a combined 11-over 299 during the morning session, then shaved nine strokes off that total to card a 2-over 290 in the afternoon.
Head Coach Tim Norris was please with the Wildcats improvement and indicated that today's breezy conditions may have helped the K-State feel more at home.
"We're starting to come around this spring," Norris said of the Cats' improved play. "This course is a little easier than what we played last time out at Wexford Plantation and the fact that the wind was blowing today help us since we are used to playing in those kind of conditions."
Freshman Joe Kinney fired a counting round of 2-over 74 during the afternoon session and is tied for 40th at 7-over 151. Senior Jonathan James will enter Monday's third and final round tied for 51st at 10-over 154.
