The Wildcats finished the day in third place overall with rounds of 313 and 320. Every one of the Wildcat players are currently in the top 25 in the individual standings.
“The morning round went pretty well,” said Head Coach Kristi Knight. “The conditions were pretty tough today, we had really heavy winds and difficult greens. Kali (Quick) and Hailey (Mireles) were very steady this morning. Michelle (Regan) and Katy (Heffel) both struggled on the greens. This afternoon I think penalty shots were the difference. There are quite a few hazards on this course that can come into play and this afternoon we found them. We have a chance tomorrow though, we are in the final pairing and we just have to be decisive, stay aggressive, and see if we can run them down.”
Michelle Regan shot rounds of 80 and 78 to finish the day tied for eighth.
Kali Quick posted rounds of 76 and 82 to finish the day tied with teammate Regan in eighth place.
Senior Helene Robert improved in her second round of play, carding rounds of 82 and 78 to finish day one tied for 15th.
The Wildcats will play one more round tomorrow morning with a shotgun start scheduled for 8:00 a.m.
Final results will be posted on www.k-statesports.com as soon as they become available.
