The Cornhuskers (12-4, 2-1 Big 12) used a 25-5 run over the first and second halves to turn a 21-20 deficit into a 45-26 lead.
Velander scored eight of his points as the Huskers closed the first half on a 12-0 spurt. He finished with a career-high six 3-pointers.
Kansas State (11-6) is 0-3 in the conference for the first time since 2000-01. The Wildcats turned over the ball a season-high 25 times, and the Huskers converted them into 34 points.
Cookie Miller had season highs with three 3-pointers and 15 points, and Ryan Anderson made five steals and had five rebounds for the Huskers.
Denis Clemente scored 14 points and Darren Kent 10 to lead K-State.
