No. 12 Wildcats Surge Past Lions, 90-76

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Jacob Pullen led five Wildcats in double figures with 18 points as 12^th-ranked Kansas State surged past Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 90-76, for its eighth straight win Monday night at Bramlage Coliseum.

K-State, which received its highest national ranking in nearly 36 years earlier in the day, moved to 11-1 on the season following Monday's win, while the visiting Lions dropped to 0-10 with the loss.

Pullen went 5-of-10 from the field on Monday and has now connected on 16-of-25 three-pointers in his last three games. Dominique Sutton pitched in 14 points and eight rebounds in the contest, while Curtis Kelly had 13 points and eight rebounds. Denis Clemente and Jamar Samuels rounded out the double-figure scorers for Kansas State after recording 12 points each on the night.

The Wildcats shot 50-percent on the evening (28-of-56) and connected on 6-of-16 three-pointers. K-State forced Pine Bluff into 21 turnovers on the night, which turned into 29 Wildcat points.

Both teams shot under 50-percent in the first half - K-State (44.1) and UAPB (45.5) - but both turned it up a notch in the final 20 minutes. K-State went 13-of-22 from the field (59.1-percent) in the second half, while Pine Bluff shot 57.1-percent (16-of-28).

K-State broke open a 17-14 game in the first half with a 10-0 run, which was capped by a Samuels three-point play, to give the Wildcats a 13-point advantage at 27-14. Clemente's deep three-pointer at the halftime buzzer gave K-State its largest lead of the first half at 44-29.

The first nine points of the second half went the Wildcats' way, five of which came from Sutton, as Kansas State opened up its biggest lead of the night at 53-29. The Lions did not surrender as they would pull within 12 at 65-53 at the 10:03 mark of the second half after a 10-0 run.

But, K-State answered with a 10-0 run of its own to put the game out of reach at 75-53.

Next action for Kansas State is December 29 when it hosts Cleveland State at Bramlage Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
