"I think we have really benefitted from the practices over the last several weeks," said head coach Tim Norris. "Things are really starting to shape up and hopefully this will be a springboard moving forward. That first round put us behind the eight ball a little bit but we definitely competed here these last two days and hopefully we can keep it going for the rest of the season."
The duo of Seth Smith and Kyle Weldon led the Wildcats from start to finish as both golfers earned top-10 finishes on Saturday. Weldon fired a 10-under 206 to tie for sixth place, while Smith carded a career-low 4-under 68 over the final round to tie for eighth place at 9-under 207.
Daniel Wood tallied a 1-under 71, his second straight under-par round, on Saturday's to finish tied for 29th place at 3-under 213. Connor Knabe, who tied for 36th place, also carded a final-round 1-under 71 to finish at 1-under 215. Alex Carney improved six shots from round two to round three and finished at 13-over 229.
Playing as individuals, David Klaudt (T19th) recorded a 4-under 68 on Saturday to finish at 5-under 215, while Tyler Norris finished the event at 15-over 231.
UMKC's Nathan Hughes took home top individuals honors as he finished at 16-under 200.
K-State will have one week off of competition before returning to the Grand Canyon State to compete in the 2014 Wyoming Cowboy Classic at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
