
Another K-State Sophomore Shoots Under Par in Tennessee

For a second-consecutive day, Kansas State had a sophomore men's golfer shot under par as Ben Fernandez fired a 2-under par 70 on Saturday during the second round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club.
As a team, the Wildcats fell two spots on the scoreboard following a 2-over par 290 round on Saturday. K-State holds a 36-hole score of 5-over par 581 to sit in 11th place.
"The conditions were perfect for scoring today, we just were not able to take advantage," head coach Grant Robbins said. "We just have to stay positive, keep grinding and post a low round tomorrow."
Fernandez registered a bogey-free scorecard with birdies on Nos. 8 and 13. He is tied for 30th at 1-under par 143, one stroke behind fellow sophomore Jacob Eklund, who is tied for 22st at 2-under par 142.
Senior Trent Evans collected four birdies en route to a 2-over par round. He is tied for 53rd at 3-over par 147. Jeremy Gandon is tied for 72th at 9-over par 153, while redshirt freshman Matthieu Caron is at 5-over par 149 to sit in a tie for 62nd.
Penn State remains in first place at 27-under par 549. Missouri's Hayden Buckley fired an 8-under par 64 in the second round to top the individual leaderboard at 12-under par 132.
