Wildcats Tie for Sixth at MountainView Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – After starting the day in ninth place, the Kansas State women's golf team rallied back on Sunday to climb to a tie for sixth in the MountainView Collegiate at the par-72, 6,227-yard MountainView Golf Club.

Talley led the Wildcats with her second-straight under-par round at 1-under par 71, giving her a three-round score of 2-under par 214 to tie for fifth place. Her placing ties a team high with two top-five finishes this season.

"I am proud of the way the team bounced back today," said head coach Kristi Knight. "We struggled off the tee in all three rounds, but we hit some birdies as well."

Sophomore Chloe Weir, who was competing as an individual, finished in 26th place at 6-over par 222, while junior Connie Jaffrey carded a 7-over par 223 to tie for 27th.

Senior Paige Nelson tied for 44th at 10-over par 226. Freshman Tash Carlsson, who carded an even-par 72 in the third round, finished at 12-over par 228 to tie for 47th, while senior Katherine Gravel-Coursol tied for 55th at 15-over par 231.

Arizona took home the team title at 14-under par 850, 21 strokes ahead of New Mexico State for second place. Arizona's Wanasa Zhou won the individual title at 13-under par 203.

The Wildcats will be back in action in two weeks at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, March 26-28, in Stockbridge, Georgia.
