MANHATTAN, Kansas – For the second straight season and the 15th time in program history, Kansas State will take part in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will host Drake on Friday in Bramlage Coliseum which is part of the Lexington Regional. K-State is the seven-seed in the region, while Drake is the 10-seed.
• Saturday’s game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPN3, as Brenda VanLengen (play-by-play) and Carol Ross (analyst) call the action.
• K-State is making its second NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Jeff Mittie. The Wildcats are 12-14 in their previous 14 appearances.
• Under the guidance of Mittie in his third season, K-State owns a record of 22-10 overall and a 11-7 mark in Big 12 play. The 22 wins are the most for the program since the 2008-09 season (25).
• K-State has been ranked in the Associated Press top-25 for 10 weeks this season, the most since the 2008-09 season when K-State was ranked for 14 weeks. The Wildcats reached a high of 22nd, which was the highest ranking for the program since achieving a No. 21 ranking in 2008-09.
• K-State has been led this season by its senior All-Big 12 First Team duo of Breanna Lewis and Kindred Wesemann.
• Wesemann earned her first career league first team honor with a career-high 14.0 points per game and is the top 3-point shooter in the Big 12 with 85 connections.
• Wesemann is just the third player in program history and first since 2002-03 to register 400 or more points, 90 or more assists and 60 or more steals. She is the only player in the Big 12 to reach these statistical marks this season.
• Lewis, a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and a three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team recipient, is averaging 13.7 points on a .557 field goal percentage and a career-high 8.3 rebounds per game.

• The 1200 rebounds are the most since the 2012-13 season when K-State pulled in 1241 in a school record 37 games.
• Kansas State has had the advantage on the boards this season, holding a +1.8 rebounding margin, and pulling in 37.5 rebounds per game to its opponent’s 35.7.
• This is just the seventh time since the formation of the Big 12 in 1996-97 that K-State has pulled in 1200 or more rebounds in a season.

• Drake (28-4, 18-0 MVC) owns the second-longest active winning streak in the nation, as they enter the 2017 NCAA Tournament with a 22-game win streak.
• The Bulldogs secured the Missouri Valley’s automatic bid by winning the conference tournament title with a 74-68 overtime win over Northern Iowa. Drake is the first team in MVC history to register a perfect 18-0 record to earn the regular season crown.
• On the sideline, Drake is led by fifth-year head coach Jennie Baranczyk. In her time with the Bulldogs, Baranczyk has achieved a record of 99-60 (.623). Baranczyk served as a graduate assistant coach at K-State in 2004-05 and an assistant coach in 2005-06.
• On the floor, Drake is led by MVC Player of the Year and All-MVC First Team selection Lizzy Wendell and MVC Freshman of the Year Becca Hittner.
• Wendell, a forward from Blue Springs, Missouri, is averaging 21.1 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Wendell ranks 13th in the nation in scoring and 32nd in the nation in steals per game. She has scored in double figures in 31 of 32 games this season.
• Hittner, a guard from Urbandale, Iowa, is second on the team in scoring (12.4 ppg) and leads the team in field goal percentage (.541) and rebounds (6.1 rpg).
K-State in NCAA Tournament
• Kansas State was awarded its 15th bid into the NCAA Tournament and its 14th postseason bid in the last 16 seasons.
• The Wildcats are 12-14 (.462) in its previous 14 appearances in the NCAA Tournament and have advanced to at least the second round in eight of the last nine NCAA appearances.
• This is the second NCAA Tournament appearance by the Wildcats under the guidance of head coach Jeff Mittie. This is Mittie’s 11th NCAA Tournament apparance.
• K-State is 5-1 in NCAA Tournament games played in Manhattan.
Wildcats Secure 300th Win in Bramlage
• K-State is 311-119 (.723) all-time inside Bramlage Coliseum, which is in its 29th season of existence.
• In his career in games played in his home venue, Mittie is 315-77 (.804).
• Kansas State has protected its home floor with determination against non-conference foes with a record of 169-27 (.862) record. Head coach Jeff Mittie is 23-2 in non-conference games in Bramlage Coliseum.
• K-State has a 13-3 record at home this season, with the only losses coming against Connecticut, Baylor and Texas.
• The Wildcats reached double figures in home victories for the 28th time in program history. The Wildcats have won 10 or more games in Bramlage in three straight seasons.
Scoring Up For K-State in 2016-17
• Kansas State’s offensive numbers have continued to improve in Jeff Mittie’s three seasons. K-State is averaging 68.1 points per game with 2,179 points scored.
• K-State’s 2,179 points this season are the most since the 2012-13 season when K-State scored 2,264 points in a school record 37 games.
• This is the first time K-State has scored 2,000 or more points in consecutive seasons since reaching the mark in eight straight seasons from 2001-02 to 2008-09.
• K-State’s roster features eight players with 100 or more points scored, which represents 67.0 percent of K-State’s active roster with 100 or more points scored.
• This is the first time since the 2013-14 season (8) that K-State has had eight players with 100 or more points scored and just the second time since at least the 2000-01 season.
• In the 2015-16 season, K-State averaged 64.4 points per game and scored a total of 2,062 points this season.
• The 64.4 points per game marked the highest scoring average by a K-State team since the 2007-08 season (67.5 ppg). It was the first time since the 2012-13 season (2,264 points) that K-State scored 2,000 or more points in a season.
K-State Strong in the Lane
• Kansas State has been pounding the paint in 2016-17, outscoring foes, 1,004-798, for a +206 advantage in points in the paint. The 1,004 points (31.4 ppg) are 46.1 percent of the Wildcats’ overall point total and are the most points in the lane in the Jeff Mittie era.
• The Wildcats recorded a 60-12 advantage in the lane against Tulsa on Nov. 14. The 60 points in the paint were the most by a K-State team since at least the 2006-07 season.
• Kansas State registered its second-highest total of the season of 54 points in the lane against West Virginia on Jan. 1. It was the most in a Big 12 game by K-State since scoring 54 points in the paint against TCU on Feb. 11, 2015.
• K-State has scored 30 or more points in the paint in 19 games this season and have had the edge in the lane in 22 games.
• This is the third straight season under head coach Jeff Mittie that K-State has held the edge in the paint and have scored 900 or more points in the lane.
Sharing is Caring
• K-State registered a season-high 22 assists against TCU on Jan. 18 and at Iowa State on Jan. 21. This was the third time this season that the Wildcats handed out 20 or more assists and the first time K-State has done so in consecutive games since Dec. 19-21, 2015.
• K-State saw a 50-game win streak ended at Iowa State on Jan. 21 when dishing out 20 or more assists in a game including two games with 30 or more. The Wildcats are 50-1 when handing out 20 or more assists over the last 11 years.
• This season, K-State is handing out 14.6 assists per game (467 total assists) and owns a 1.0 assist to turnover ratio. K-State ranks fifth in the Big 12 in assists per game and third in league only games (14.1 apg).
• K-State has dished out an assist on 60.4 percent of its made field goals this season, including eight games with assists on 70 percent or more of the made field goals which includes a season-high of 84.6 percent against TCU on Jan. 18.
• K-State’s roster features three players with 90 or more assists this season - Karyla Middlebrook (98), Shaelyn Martin (98) and Kindred Wesemann (90). The trio is responsible for 61.2 percent of K-State’s assists and just 41.7 percent of the turnovers.
• This is the first time since the 2002-03 season that K-State has had at least three players with 90 or more assists in a season.
The Little Engine from Threeland
• For her career, senior guard Kindred Wesemann is the fifth player in program history with 250 or more 3-point field goals in a career as she has drained 259 three-point field goals and is fifth in school history. She ranks 12th on the Big 12 career 3-point field goals made list.
• Wesemann leads the Big 12 and is 42nd in the nation for 3-point field goals made per game (2.7) and is converting from the arc at .351 (85-of-242). She leads the Big 12 and ranks 31st in the nation in total 3-point field goals made with 85. She is the only player in the Big 12 with 85 or more made 3-point field goals this season.
• Wesemann’s 85 connections from beyond the arc have tied her career season-high from her junior campaign and ranks tied for seventh in school history for 3-point field goals made in a season. Her 242 attempts ranks sixth in school history.
• She is the first K-State player to make 85 or more 3-point field goals in consecutive seasons since Laurie Koehn in 2003-04 and 2004-05. Her 85 connections from beyond the arc ranks third in school history for 3-pointers made by a senior.
• Wesemann is responsible for 46.2 percent of K-State’s made 3-pointers this season. This is the highest percentage in since Brittany Chambers (46.2) in the 2011-12 season.
• Against Baylor on March 5, Wesemann was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. She has 23 career games with four or more connections from the 3-point line, including 10 this season.
Lewis Cleans the Glass
• Senior center Breanna Lewis continues to ascend the K-State career rebounding list, as she has hauled in 850 in her career to rank sixth in school history (see chart on pg. 35).
• In her career, she has pulled in five or more rebounds 91 times and has 26 games in her career in double figures on the glass.
• This season, Lewis is averaging a career-high 8.3 rebounds per game and ranks fourth in the Big 12 in rebounding. For total rebounds, Lewis ranks 72nd in the nation with a career-high 265. She has three straight seasons with 200 or more rebounds.
• Her 265 rebounds ranks 10th in school history for rebounds in a season and she needs nine rebounds to move into ninth. Her 265 rebounds this season are the most by a K-State player since Brittany Chambers pulled in 281 in the 2012-13 season.
• Lewis has a career-high for a season with eight double-doubles this season and owns 20 in her career. She ranks seventh in program history for career double-doubles.
Goth Paces Wildcats in Big 12 Championship
• Sophomore Kayla Goth led K-State in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships, averaging 18.5 points (37 points) in the WIldcats’ two games.
• Goth tallied a career-high 25 points in K-State’s quarterfinal win over Iowa State. This was her first game in double figures since Jan. 21 at Iowa State.
• The 25 points were more than she scored in the previous 10 games combined.
• Her 6-of-6 effort from the foul line tied the K-State record for free throw percentage in a Big 12 tournament game.
• Goth also hauled in five rebounds against the Cyclones, the most she pulled down since Jan. 11 against Kansas.
• In the semifinals against Baylor, Goth made her first start since Dec. 18 against Princeton and responded with 12 points and three rebounds.
