Vogel Tabbed Preseason All-Big 12

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State volleyball senior Bryna Vogel was selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team in a vote of the league’s head coaches, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Vogel, a right-side hitter from Clearwater, Kansas, set career highs in kills (324) and hitting percentage (.284) during her junior season that earned her Second Team All-Big 12 honors. Additionally, she recorded 318 digs to become just the third Wildcat in the rally-scoring era (since 2001) to turn in a 300-kill, 300-dig campaign.
In a four-set victory over Southern Miss at the Arkansas Invitational on September 17 last season, Vogel collected a career-best 21 kills on 27 attacks (two errors) for a .704 attacking efficiency, the second-highest percentage in program history in a four-set match. Her efforts earned her tournament MVP and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
Vogel posted 11 double-doubles and led or tied for the team lead in kills eight times in 2016. She was the team’s leader in service aces (28) and is the top returning Wildcat in terms of kills, digs, aces and hitting percentage.
The preseason honor is the first of Vogel’s career. The preseason team and individual awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. Texas and KU each had a league-best three selections.
The Wildcats return 10 letterwinners from last season’s NCAA Tournament team and open their season on August 25 against Pacific in the Oregon State Invitational at Corvallis, Oregon. The home opener vs. Arkansas is Thursday, August 31.
Season tickets for K-State’s entire 12-match home schedule are available now and start at $3 per match. Single-match tickets for the 2017 season are also available, with general admission tickets beginning at $5.
