Wildcats in 11th Place at Minnesota Invitational

WOODBURY, Minn. – Competing in her first collegiate tournament, Kansas State freshman Reid Isaac led the way for the Wildcat women's golf team at 2-under par 142 over the first two rounds of the Minnesota Invitational on Monday at the par-72, 6,248-yard Prestwick Golf Course.
K-State is in 11th place at 11-over par 587. The Wildcats shot a 7-over par 295 in the first round but improved in the afternoon with a 4-over par 292.
"Reid played solid all day," head coach Kristi Knight said. "I saw a lot of good shots and positives from the team today. Unfortunately, we did not hole many putts for birdie."
Isaac is in 15th place entering play on Tuesday thanks to a 3-under par 69 in the second round, which was featured by an eagle on hole No. 4. The Montgomery, Texas, native is two strokes away from the top 10.
Senior Connie Jaffrey is tied for 25th place at even-par 144, carding a 2-over par first round before a 2-under par 70 in the second to climb 16 spots on the leaderboard.
Freshman Ella Adams and junior Chloe Weir are tied for 61st at 7-over par 151, while freshman Niamh McSherry carded a 9-over 153 and is tied for 69th place.
Michigan State is leading the team competition with a 36-hole score of 19-under par 557, one stroke ahead of USC. The Spartans are paced by Paz Marfa Sans, who is in first place at 9-under par 135, including a tournament and women's course record in the first round at 8-under par 64.
The final round of the Minnesota Invitational begins with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m., on Tuesday. Live results can be followed at www.golfstat.com and results will be available at www.kstatesports.com at the conclusion of play Tuesday.
