
Gandon in Top 15 After Round One in Dallas

Backed by five birdies, Kansas State junior Jeremy Gandon had a successful start to the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sunday, carding a 1-under par 70 in the first round to reside in a tie for 14th at Trinity Forest Golf Course.
K-State will look to improve on its 12-over par 296 score in Monday's second round as the Wildcats are in 13th place. Kansas State is four strokes away from a tie for 11th.
"I was happy for Jeremy today," head coach Grant Robbins said. "He had been struggling a little but and came out with a very solid round.
"As a team we really struggled on and around the greens," Robbins continued. "The firmness and speed was something we are not used to and we have to do better. We have to do a better job of adjusting when we get on the road.
Ben Fernandez was solid throughout the day, including an eagle on No. 11, but a 3-over par on No. 18 put him at in a tie for 47th at 2-over par 73.
Roland Massimino recorded five birdies but four double bogeys in recording 5-over par 76. He enters the second round tied for 63rd.
"There is a lot of golf to be played and the guys are hitting the ball well," Robbins said. "We just need to stay patient and make a few putts.
Florida holds a slim lead by recording 9-under par 275, one stroke ahead of Texas and two ahead of Auburn. Texas' Scottie Scheffler is in first place on the individual leaderboard at 6-under par 65.
