MANHATTAN, Kan. – Following a one-week layoff, the Kansas State women's golf team will be back in action Monday and Tuesday at the inaugural Illini Women's Invitational in Medinah, Illinois. The event will be hosted at the historic par-72, 6,159-yard Medinah Country Club on the recently-restored Course No. 2, which was completed in June of 2017.
The two-day invitational will consist of 36 holes being played on Monday, with the final 18 concluding play on Tuesday. The tournament features an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start on Monday and finishes with a 9 a.m., shotgun start for Tuesday's final round.
"We have had a good 10 days at home, which included team competition with two, one-day team tournaments on unfamiliar courses," head coach Kristi Knight said. "The girls have also spent time out on the course hitting different shots. The energy has been good in workouts and practice. We are ready to go play K-State golf at the Illini Invitational."
K-State will be led into the invitational by sophomore Reid Isaac, as she looks to build off of her top-10 finish in the Lady Paladin invitational after carding a 1-over par 217. The Montgomery, Texas, native currently leads the team with a 74.33 stroke average.
Kansas State's lineup for the event will feature senior Chloe Weir, the sophomore trio of Isaac, Niamh McSherry and Ella Adams, as well as freshman Briony Bayles.
The Wildcats are coming off a seventh-place finish in the Lady Paladin Invitational where they carded a 24-over par 888. K-State will look to continue its strong play in which the Wildcats shots a final-round score of even-par 288.
Kansas State will be joined in the field host school Illinois, as well as Augusta, East Carolina, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Kent State, Miami, Northern Illinois, Purdue, San Jose State, SMU, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
