MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State men's golf head coach Grant Robbins announced Wednesday that Owasso, Oklahoma, native Jared Strathe will join the Wildcats for the 2018-19 season.
"We are excited to have Jared join the program," Robbins said. "He comes from a K-State family as both of his parents graduated from here. He has a tremendous passion for the game, a strong work ethic and has really improved over the last couple of years. I know he has a bright future here at K-State."
A product of Owasso High School, Strathe is ranked in the top 150 for the Class of 2018 by American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Polo Rankings, Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek. He won the 2017 Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour (OJGT) Kickoff Classic with a 36-hole score of 131 (64-67) as well as the 2017 OJGT Spring Challenge thanks to a two-round score of 140 (74-66).
Strathe was also the runner-up in the 2017 AJGA Gary Woodland Invitational, while he finished third at the 2017 AJGA Oak Tree Invitational and fourth in the 2017 Oklahoma 6A State Championship.
Strathe will be part of a three-man freshman class for the 2018-19 season, joining Ryan Bender (Overland Park, Kansas) and Will Hopkins (Lincolnshire, England).
