Gandon Moves Up the Leaderboard at NCAA Regional
May 15, 2018 | Men's Golf
STOCKTON, Calif. – K-State men's golfer Jeremy Gandon climbed 18 spots on the individual leaderboard to a tie for 26th place after the second round of the NCAA Pacific Regional on Tuesday, at the Reserve at Spanos Park.
Gandon shaved four strokes off his first-round score, putting together a 2-under par 70. He enters Wednesday's final round at even-par 144, three shots away from the top 15.
A product of Charpey, France, Gandon had a bogey-free front nine performance, collecting birdies on Nos. 3 and 6. After birdies on Nos. 10 and 11, Gandon sat at 4-under par for the round and moved into the top 20. However, Gandon went bogey, birdie, bogey, bogey on his final four holes.
"Jeremy played a solid round today," said head coach Grant Robbins. "He drove the ball extremely well and gave himself numerous birdie opportunities. The wind really kicked up on the last few holes and he lost a couple of shots down the stretch, but overall it was a solid day.
"He is playing really well. He just needs some more putts to fall and he can finish strong."
Stanford's Brandon Wu holds the lead on the individual leaderboard at 10-under par 134, one shot ahead of Oregon's Norman Xiong and two strokes better than Iowa State's Denzel Ieremia. The Cyclones and Alabama are atop the team leaderboard at 14-under par 562.
The final round of the NCAA Pacific Regional will be held on Wednesday morning as Gandon tees off at 9:31 a.m. (PT). Live scoring can be followed at www.golfstat.com.
