Aug 07, 2018 | Women's Golf
KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. – K-State sophomore Reid Isaac carded a 36-hole score of 2-over par 144 on Monday and Tuesday to advance to match play in the 2018 US Women's Amateur Championship at The Golf Club of Tennessee.
A product of Montgomery, Texas, Isaac is the first Wildcat to advance to match play in the US Women's Amateur since Christine Boucher moved on to the Round of 16 in 2002.
Isaac put together identical scores of 1-over par 72 in the two rounds of stroke play to finish in a tie for 56th. She is seeded No. 59 for match play and will meet No. 6-seed Suzuka Yamaguchi in the Round of 64 on Wednesday at 2:10 p.m., with coverage on FS1 beginning at 3 p.m.
Isaac, who finished her freshman campaign with the team's third-best scoring average (75.36) and the squad's top freshman average, carded a pair of birdies in her first round on Monday. On Tuesday, she was 1-under par through her first 14 holes until bogeys on Nos. 6 and 9.
Isaac is part of a young nucleus for the Wildcats who ranked fifth nationally in Golfstat's Freshman Impact Rankings. K-State had three freshmen play in all 10 regular-season events and four contribute to the scoring lineup regularly. The Wildcats add two more talented freshmen to the mix with Briony Bayles and Heather Fortushniak joining the team in the fall.
