
Lee Named USBWA National Freshman of the Week

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State redshirt freshman center Ayoka Lee has added another weekly honor to her trophy case, as she has garnered named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Lee is the second player in program history to earned USBWA Freshman of the Week honors, joining current teammate Christianna Carr as Wildcats to earn the distinction.
The product of Byron, Minnesota, earned her fourth straight Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor by leading K-State to a road win at Kansas City on Saturday with a number of career-highs.
Lee tallied a career-high and tied the K-State season-high with 24 points and tied her career-high on the boards with 14 and also blocked two shots. Lee set a new career-high from the foul line, as she was 12-of-13 from the line. She was the first K-State player to make 12 or more free throws in a game since Kindred Wesemann made 12 against South Dakota on November 19, 2015. She also tied the school record for free throws made in a second quarter with five.
This was Lee's fifth double-double this season and her third in the last four games. She has four games this season with 20 or more points and has three double-doubles with 20 or more points and 10 or more rebounds.
For the season, Lee leads the league's freshmen in rebounding (11.1 rpg), total blocks (30) and blocks per game (3.3 bpg). Lee paces K-State in scoring (16.1 ppg), field goal percentage (.583) and blocks. Lee is the fastest player in program history to reach 100 career rebounds, achieving the milestone in nine games.
K-State will conclude its three-game road trip on Saturday, December 21, as the Wildcats travel to (3/3) Oregon. Saturday's game will tip at 2 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcast on Oregon Live Stream and on the K-State Sports Network and for free at kstatesports.com.
