
Cats in 13th as Second Round is Suspended

THE WOODLANDS, Texas– The Kansas State women's golf team carded a 22-over par 310 in the first round, while second-round play was suspended on Monday in the ICON Invitational held at the par-72, 6,392-yard Woodlands Country Club.
Kansas State is currently in 13thplace at 39-over par. After the morning round, the second round was delayed due to lightning and the teams were unable to finish prior to the sun going down.
"We did not play well today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "Hopefully the rain does not wipe tomorrow out as we have an opportunity to improve our position."
Freshman Briony Bayles carded a 6-over par 78 during round one before showing strides of improvement during round two, as she currently stands at 3-over par through 15 holes. Bayles leads the Wildcats as she is tied for 45that 9-over par.
Following Bayles is sophomore Ella Adams,who was able to finish her second round and is tied for 48that 10-over par154. Sophomore Niamh McSherry also finished her afternoon 18 and is tied for 63rdat 12-over par 156, including a 2-over par showing in the afternoon. Weir is tied for 63rdat 12-over parwith two holes to play in round two.
Sophomore Reid Isaac is tied for 69that 13-over par, and Darby Deans, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 79that 18-over par. Both Isaac and Deans have three holes left in the second round.
Tournament host Houston, ranked 33rdnationally,is knotted up with 27th-ranked Purdue atop the leaderboard at 5-over par. Alice Hewson of Clemson leads all individuals at 6-under par.
The ICON Invitational concludes Tuesday with an 8 a.m., start for the conclusion of the second round with final-round play to follow. Live results of can be followed at www.golfstat.com.
