K-State Set for Silicon Valley Showcase
Mar 27, 2026 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – In the final competition before the Big 12 Championship next month, the 34th-ranked Kansas State women's golf team looks to repeat the success it found last season at the Silicon Valley Showcase when it competes in the 2026 edition of the event on Monday and Tuesday at the par-71, 6,084-yard Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, California.
Playing in the event for the first time in 2025, the Wildcats finished in second place out of nine teams with a 54-hole score of 3-over par 855, one shot behind first-place Pepperdine in recording the sixth-best three-round total in school history at the time.
"We are going to experience something different at Green Hills Country Club than we have seen in the last three weeks," said head coach Stew Burke, whose team has played desert courses in each of the last three events. "There will be a big premium on driving the ball and iron play, as well as having to combat fast greens with many slopes. This is an Alister MacKenzie-designed golf course, so you can imagine the different green complexes by comparing them to Augusta National. It is a great opportunity for the ladies to compete against some of the top schools from the West Coast. The tournament hosts have really elevated this event to the standard of a professional tournament, which will be fun for the ladies to enjoy some perks off of the course as well."
Hosted by Santa Clara, the 10-team field at the Silicon Valley Showcase also includes No. 29 Eastern Michigan, No. 50 California, San Diego State, San Francisco, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Washington State and Wyoming.
As a team, the Wildcats are averaging 287.38 shots per round this season – which currently stands as the school record – while their six top-five finishes are tied for fifth in program history and three top-three showings are tied for seventh.
K-State's scoring lineup in California consists of senior Noa van Beek, sophomores Kelsey Chen and Nanami Nakashima, in addition to freshmen Casey Kang and Keen Visavapattamawan. It marks the fifth time this season the Wildcats will use this lineup as the group has produced a top-five finish in each of the previous four outings, including a victory in the Powercat Invitational.
A native of Oene, Netherlands, van Beek tied for 11th in last year's Silicon Valley Showcase at 3-over par 216. This season, the senior ranks second on the team with a 71.85 scoring average – which currently ranks fourth in program history – while her 73.83 career mark over 107 rounds ranks third. van Beek is looking to recapture the play she had three events ago when she won her first collegiate event, the Westbrook Invitational, before finishing in 29th place at the Yale Invitational West and tying for 28th last week at the MountainView Collegiate.
This will also be Nakashima's second time playing in the Silicon Valley Showcase after finishing in 22nd place last season at 9-over par 222. The Kani, Japan, product is third on the team with a 72.38 scoring average to currently rank fifth in school history, and her 73.31 career average over 64 rounds ranks second.
Chen leads the Wildcats with a 71.77 scoring average this season and has recorded three top-five finishes and seven appearances in the top 20. The Dalian, China, product currently ranks third in school history in single-season scoring average behind the 70.90 and 70.08 marks that Carla Bernat posted in 2023-24 and 2024-25, respectively. Chen is coming off a tie for second place in the MountainView Collegiate when she tallied a score of 8-under par 208, tied for the 13th-best mark in school history.
A product of Lanzhou, China, Kang returns to the scoring lineup for the first time since tying for 25th place at the Yale Invitational West at the beginning of March. The freshman competed as an individual last time out at the MountainView Collegiate as she tied for 50th place but did record a second-round total of 2-under par 70.
Visavapattamawan, who hails from Bangkok, Thailand, is in the scoring lineup for the ninth time in 10 events this season as she carries a 73.81 scoring average with four top-20 finishes. She tied for 25th place in the MountainView Collegiate at 1-over par 217.
An 8:30 a.m. (PT) shotgun start begins play on both days with 36 holes being contested on Monday before the final round on Tuesday. Live results can be followed on Golfstat.
