
K-State Places Three on Academic All-Big 12 First Team

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State women's basketball placed three student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in an announcement by the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday.
Since the beginning of the Big 12 in 1996-97, K-State has earned a league-best 130 Academic All-Big 12 honors including 106 first team citations which also paces the Big 12.
K-State student-athletes to earn Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors were: senior Kayla Goth (accounting), junior Peyton Williams (anthropology and international studies) and sophomore Alisa Wiggins (kinesiology). Williams was one of three members to be named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team with a 4.0 grade point average.
This was the third career Academic All-Big 12 First Team honor for Goth, while Williams earned her second career citation and Wiggins collected her first. Last week, Williams was also named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District VII First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the women's basketball academic all-league team consisted of 39 first team members combined with 11 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Kansas State will conclude its 2018-19 regular season home schedule with a two-game home stand beginning on Wednesday night against West Virginia at 7 p.m. Wednesday's game will broadcast on FCS Central and for free on K-StateHD.TV. The game will also be available on the K-State Sports Network, for free at kstatesports.com and available on the K-State Sports app.
