K-State Moves Up One Spot on Final Day

THE WOODLANDS, Texas– The Kansas State women's golf team carded an 8-over par 296 during the final round on Tuesday as the Wildcats finished in 12thplace in the ICON Invitational held at the par-72, 6,392-yard Woodlands Country Club.
Kansas State concluded the 54-hole event at 47-over par 911. Sophomores Ella Adams and Niamh McSherry both had impressive showings in the final round as they each scored a 1-under par 71. Adams led all Cats tying for 30thwith a score of 8-over par 224, while McSherry followed by carding a 10-over par 226 to tie for 43rdplace.
"Niamh and Ella did a great job today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "We struggled by giving away a lot of shots on the back nine in the first two rounds, but we were better today. The team shot a lower score each round, which is a good thing. This group does not give up, but we must come out stronger in the first round."
Freshman Briony Bayles, who carded a 4-over par 76 on Tuesday, tied for 50that 14-over par 230.Sophomore Reid Isaac and senior Chloe Weir finished in a tie for 67that 19-over par 235, and sophomore Darby Deans, who competed as an individual, tied for 80thwith a 27-over par 243.
Tournament host and 33rd-ranked Houstontook home the team title after carding an 8-over par 872. The Cougars were 1-over par during the final round to edge 27th-ranked Purdue by three strokes. Alice Hewson of Clemson held her position atop the leaderboard to take home the individual title with a score of 9-under par 207.
The Wildcats will be back in action, March 15-17, as they travel to Mesa, Arizona, to compete in the Notre Dame Clover Cup.
