
K-State Signs Italian National Riccardo Leo

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head men's golf coach Grant Robbins announced Thursday the signing of Riccardo Leo to a National Letter of Intent. Leo, believed to be the first Italian native in program history, will join the Wildcats for the 2019-20 season.
"We are very excited to add Riccardo to our team," Robbins said. "Riccardo has been a member of the Italian National Team for the last four years and brings with him a wealth of international tournament experience. He has tremendous length off the tee and is a hard worker that loves to compete. He is ranked among the top amateur golfers in Europe and will have a chance to make an immediate impact in our program."
A product of Torino, Italy, Leo is rated as the 120th-best amateur in Europe according to the European Golf Rankings. He tallied five top-20 finishes during the 2018 season, including a third-place finish in the 2018 Italian National Amateur Championship and a fourth-place mark in the in the Italian National Under 18 Championship. He also finished 16th in both the Italian Amateur and English Under 18 Championship Carris Trophy last season. Leo was also the runner up for the 2017 Italian Under 18 National Championship.
Leo joins a fall class that includes junior college transfers George Clarke (Staffordshire, England) and Tripp Wallace (Wollforth, Texas) and prep standouts Ethan Miller (Round Rock, Texas) and Tim Tillmanns (Cologne, Germany).
K-State opens up its 2019 spring campaign February 23-24, at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Florida.
