MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State's Teana Adams-Kaonohi, Brynn Carlson, Anna Dixon and Gloria Mutiri were each selected to the 28-player U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team-Anaheim roster, USA Volleyball announced Monday.
K-State's four selections led all Division I programs in the country, while Adams-Kaonohi and Dixon were two of three named to the squad with four years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
The team will train June 23-29 at the American Sports Center in Anaheim, California, the official host city for the U.S. Women's and Men's National Volleyball teams. The program will hold a public Red-Blue scrimmage on June 28 in the vicinity of Anaheim (site and time TBA).
Athletes were selected for the squad through the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held March 1-3 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. K-State head coach Suzie Fritz sent seven Wildcats to the tryout.
Mutiri turned in AVCA All-America Honorable Mention campaign as a freshman in 2018 in addition to being tabbed AVCA All-Region. Mutiri participated in USA Volleyball's High Performance Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last spring.
Carlson, an outside hitter entering her junior season, earned an opportunity to play with the U.S. Junior National Team in 2017.
Adams-Kaonohi, a setter from Honolulu, Hawaii, and Anna Dixon, an outside hitter from Louisburg, Kansas, both joined the K-State volleyball program in January as part of a four-member incoming freshman class.
The CNT-Anaheim coaches include Dan Fisher (Pittsburgh) Travis Hudson (Western Kentucky) Kirsten Bernthal-Booth (Creighton) and Melissa Wolter (West Florida).
