Mar 09, 2020 | Women's Basketball
MANHATTAN, Kansas – For the 12th time this season, K-State redshirt freshman Ayoka Lee was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week by helping K-State to a pair of wins to complete the final week of Big 12 regular season action.
The 12th Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor for Lee finalizes a Big 12 and K-State record for selections in a rookie season. The previous Big 12 record was nine set by Courtney Paris in the 2005-06 season.
In the final week of the regular season, Lee averaged 15.0 points on a .524 field goal percentage and a .889 free throw percentage, while pulling in 13.0 rebounds and blocking 3.0 shots.
At Oklahoma State, Lee secured the school record for double-doubles in a season with her 18th as she notched 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in 36 minutes.
In the regular season home finale against Kansas, Lee boosted her double-double record to 19 as she tallied 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 from the free throw line and pulling in 14 rebounds. She also blocked two shots.
For the season, Lee is the first freshman in program history to complete a conference season with a double-double as she averaged 15.8 points and 11.7 rebounds.
She is the first freshman in program history with 400 or more points, 300 or more rebounds and 90 or more blocks in a debut campaign. She needs seven rebounds to set the school all-class single-season record for rebounds and seven blocked shots to establish a new single-season record in that category.
K-State will prep for the 2020 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championships. The Wildcats are slated as the fifth seed and will face Iowa State on Friday at 11 a.m., in Kansas City at Municipal Auditorium.
Friday's game will be broadcast on FSN and will be available on the K-State Sports Network, free at kstatesports.com, and on the K-State Sports app.
