WICHITA, Kan. – After trailing by 11 with 6:01 remaining in the game, Kansas State fought back to tie the game with under two minutes to play but Wichita State held off the Wildcats, 51-48, on Friday night at Koch Arena.

The Basics
• Score: Wichita State 51, Kansas State 48
• Records: Kansas State (6-1), Wichita State (6-2)
• Quick Hitter: A pair of late three-point field goals from Haley Texada brought K-State back into a tie with under two minutes to play, but K-State was unable to overcome the deficit to capture the win.
• Leaders: K-State was led by Ashia Woods with 13 points and six rebounds. Breanna Lewis registered 12 points and six rebounds. Texada carded 10 points and three assists.

First Half
• Both teams struggled from the field in the early stages of the first half, as K-State was 2-of-10, while Wichita State was 2-of-12 with 11:45 to play.
• A pair of layups from Ashia Woods and Breanna Lewis gave the Wildcats two separate leads of six, 10-4 and 12-6.
• Wichita State climbed back into the lead, 17-12, with a 9-0 run. Alex Harden registered four points during the rally.
• A pair of baskets from Lewis and a Kindred Wesemann layup pushed K-State into a one-point lead, 18-17, with 2:28 to play.
• The Shockers used a 5-0 run to build a 22-18 lead with 1:43 to play.
• A late layup from Haley Texada brought the Wildcats to within two at the break, 22-20. This was the first time this season that K-State trailed at the half.
• For the half, K-State shot .381 from the floor but committed 10 turnovers. Wichita State was .310 from the field and committed five turnovers.

Second Half
• Wichita State was able to extend its lead to 10, 39-29, with 10:23 to play. Harden helped build the lead with nine points early in the second stanza.
• Trailing by 11, K-State cobbled together a 9-4 run to climb back to within six, 46-40, with 3:09 remaining.
• Texada drained a pair of three-point field goals to tie the game at 46 with 2:03 to play.
• Harden registered five late points to fend off the Wildcats come back. Harden finished with a game-high 22 points.

Noteworthy
• This was the seventh straight game K-State has held the advantage in points in the paint.
• K-State has now lost consecutive games to Wichita State for the first time since Jan. 26, 1993 and Dec. 7, 1993.
• Lewis finished with one block. She now has 66 in her career and ranks 10th in school history for blocks in a career. Lewis has 10 career games in double figures for points, including five this season.
• Woods has scored in double figures five times this season and 23 times in her career. She has pulled in five or more rebounds 29 times.
