NORMAN, Okla. – Kansas State held a six-point lead with five minutes left in the game, but Oklahoma went on a 13-1 run to close out the contest as the Sooners topped the Wildcats, 68-62, Wednesday night at the Lloyd Noble Center. Oklahoma improved to 17-8 overall and 9-4 in Big 12 play, while K-State dropped to 16-9 on the season and 7-6 in conference action.

The Wildcats, who led by as many as nine in the second half, took a 61-55 lead on a Brittany Chambers three-pointer with 4:58 left. However, due to a stout defensive effort by the Sooners, K-State turned the ball over in its next five possessions and missed its final four field goals of the contest.

The Sooners' Aaryn Ellenberg and Whitney Hand combined to score seven of the final 13 Oklahoma points and each had steal that led to an OU bucket the other way.

Hand led four Oklahoma players who finished in double figures as she recorded 16 points. Ellenberg had 12, while Sharane Campbell and Morgan Hook added 11 and 10, respectively. Kaylon Williams pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds as she helped the Sooners out-rebound K-State, 37-29.

Chambers paced K-State by scoring a game-high 17 points, while Tasha Dickey had 15 and Jalana Childs turned in 13.

Much like the end of the game, K-State held a seven-point advantage at 28-21 with 1:47 to go in the first period, but OU went on an 8-0 run to close out the frame and take a 29-28 halftime lead. Then, with the game tied at 34, Chambers connected on a three-pointer and Childs made a bucket before Chantay Caron was true on two-straight to put the Wildcats on top 43-36 with 12:38 left.

The Wildcats nine-point lead in the second half came at the 9:49 mark after a Chambers layup and a three-pointer on two-straight possessions before OU began to chip away at the lead and run away late.

Kansas State was able to force 22 Oklahoma turnovers in the game, the most by a Wildcat opponent in conference play this season. The previous high was 21 by Texas on February 1. However, the Sooners made 47.9-percent of their shots, the third highest by a K-State opponent this season.

After a sluggish start to the game for the Wildcats, K-State used a 10-3 run to capture a 12-9 advantage. The rally was started on a backdoor layup from Chambers followed by eight-straight points from Dickey, including a pair of three-pointers.

Oklahoma was able to take brief 16-15 lead on the Wildcats with 10:20 to play, but K-State started to use the fast break to take control of the half. Caron converted an offensive rebound into a layup and was followed by a fast break lay-in by Dickey with 3:19 to play.

K-State boosted its lead to seven at 28-21 as Ashia Woods converted a pair of free throws and Childs knocked down a hook shot before OU went on its run to close out the frame.

Kansas State returns home on Saturday as the Wildcats host Texas for the Play 4Kay game. The first 4,000 fans in Bramlage Coliseum will receive a pink t-shirt, while the Air Elite Dunkers will perform at halftime. The game tips off at 6 p.m. and will be televised by FSN.
