MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State Wildcats dropped their third straight contest on Wednesday night as the Iowa State Cyclones were able to pound away inside and find a way to stop Brittany Chambers. Iowa State defeated K-State 66-57 thanks to strong play from Chelsea Poppens as she posted 23 points.

Chambers entered the contest averaging 15.9 points for the Wildcats, but was held to only six on Wednesday as Iowa State played tight defense on her and allowed her to shoot just 3-of-5 from the field. Jalana Childs led K-State in scoring with 22 points on 11-of-19 shooting, but it was not enough for the Wildcats to overcome Iowa State's performance from Poppens.

K-State (13-6, 4-3) shot just 36 percent in the second half as Iowa State's defense continued to put pressure on the Wildcats. The Cyclones (11-7, 2-5) shot 50 percent in the second stanza thanks to Poppens going 7-of-9. She also pulled down nine rebounds, five on the offensive end, to help Iowa State win the battle on the glass.

Iowa State won the battle in the paint as well outscoring K-State, 36-20. The Wildcats also were unable to take advantage of 18 Iowa State turnovers scoring only six points. Meanwhile, Iowa State converted 13 K-State turnovers into 21 points.

After the teams traded baskets for a majority of the first half, K-State used an 11-3 run to capture a 31-23 lead with 2:41 to play. The Wildcats held a 36-27 advantage at the break, as Childs registered 12 points while Tasha Dickey tallied eight. K-State was 6-of-14 from beyond the arc which included two each from Dickey and Mariah White.

Kansas State will hit the road for three of their next four games, including its next two. The Wildcats will travel to Stillwater, Okla., to face Oklahoma State on Saturday.
