Adams-Kaonohi Named CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State setter Teana Adams-Kaonohi was selected to the 2021 Academic All-District Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced Friday.
Adams-Kaonohi adds to her academic résumé that now includes two Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, as the junior earned her second conference academic award Wednesday. A life sciences major, Adams-Kaonohi boasts a 3.48 grade-point average and was one of 11 student-athletes from the Big 12 to earn academic all-district accolades.
Adams-Kaonohi, a native of Honolulu, Hawai'i, currently leads the Big 12 with 982 assists and 10.67 assists per set. She has turned in a career-high six double-doubles on the season and has amassed 182 digs (1.98 per set).
This season, the 6-foot-1 setter has set single-match career highs in assists (61), digs (17), kills (7) and aces (3). Her 61-assist outing against Texas Tech on October 27 marked the first 60-assist performance by any player in the Big 12 this season.
First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-December.
Adams-Kaonohi's award is the 24th Academic All-District honor under head coach Suzie Fritz, and the fourth over the last three seasons.
K-State (15-9, 6-7 Big 12) concludes its Big 12 road schedule Friday at No. 2 Texas. The match, which starts at 7 p.m., will air on the Longhorn Network with radio coverage on News Radio KMAN (93.3 FM, 1350 AM).
