Morgan Family Arena Coming Fall 2023

Nov 27, 2021 | Volleyball, Athletics

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State Athletics is proud to recognize Ward and Brenda Morgan of Manhattan, Kansas, for their lead philanthropic gift to support the new K-State volleyball arena that will break ground in early 2022. For the Morgans' commitment to K-State volleyball, the new volleyball arena will be named Morgan Family Arena and will be open in time for the 2023 season.

"This new facility is going to be world class, we are excited that the team will now have a dedicated home and we are grateful for the opportunity to help," said Ward and Brenda.

The volleyball arena will dramatically enhance the student-athlete and fan experience at K-State volleyball matches. The arena will include a seating capacity of approximately 3,100, two practice courts with retractable seating, two video boards, team meeting rooms, locker room, team theater and coaches' offices.

"This facility is a long time coming. As much as we have loved making Ahearn Field House our home, it's time to take this step forward," head volleyball coach Suzie Fritz said. "This facility will impact nearly all of our Olympic sport student-athletes and clearly elevate opportunities for our student-athletes and fans. We cannot thank enough our donors, fans, administration and development staff for their continued investment and support of K-State volleyball.

"It is hard to put into words the appreciation and gratitude that we have for Ward, Brenda and their family. They are incredibly humble and generous people who will likely be embarrassed by all of the fuss. The impact and investment that the Morgan family has had on the Manhattan community is incredibly impressive. To get to know them and be part of their commitment to K-State Athletics, and volleyball in particular, has been a true blessing. Upon learning the Morgan's story and how they came to be in a position of giving, it was clear that they were the perfect naming match for this facility. Like many K-Staters, they value hard work, strong values and a commitment to making the world a better place and we are honored that the new facility will bear their name. We ask our student-athletes to step up in big moments all of the time, and to have a family like the Morgans step up and show genuine interest and love for volleyball, and the women on the team at this level has been an amazing and humbling experience."

"Today is an exciting day as we recognize Ward and Brenda for their lead gift towards our new volleyball arena and our Building Champions initiative," Athletics Director Gene Taylor said. "The Morgans have stepped up in a big way to make this volleyball arena project a reality, and the impact their gift will have on our student-athletes, coaches and fans is immeasurable.  This new arena will help provide our program a national recruiting edge and create an exciting home court advantage for our student-athletes and fans to enjoy.   We cannot thank Ward, Brenda and the entire Morgan family enough for their commitment to making K-State Volleyball one of the elite programs in the country."
