
Sundell Collects Second Big 12 Freshman of the Week Honor

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State freshman guard Serena Sundell played a big part in the Wildcats securing consecutive non-conference road wins for the first time since 2012 and was rewarded with her second Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor.
K-State has collected three consecutive Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors this season, as Sundell and Brylee Glenn have earned the honors.
For the week, Sundell averaged 14.0 points on a .474 field goal percentage, including a .583 effort from beyond the arc, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals. She also completed the week with an assist to turnover ratio of 4.7.
At Omaha on December 8, Sundell helped K-State tie the school record for 3-point field goals made in a game as she was 3-of-4 from 3-point range and finished with 12 points, four assists and three rebounds in K-State's 87-56 win over the Mavericks.
At South Dakota State on Saturday, K-State played with an active roster of just seven players. Sundell responded with her first career double-double with 16 points, including a 4-of-8 effort from beyond the arc, 10 assists with just one turnover. She also hauled in five rebounds and pocketed five steals. Her 10 assists and five steals established new career-highs, while her five rebounds tied her career high.
For the season, Sundell is averaging 10.6 points, 4.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals. She ranks 16th in the nation for total assists (53) and is 37th in the nation in assist to turnover ratio (2.65).
