MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State senior women's basketball student-athlete Sydney Goodson has been selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 18th "So You Want To Be A Coach" program. Each student-athlete selected will participate in a one-day online workshop on March 30.
Goodson finished her only season with the Wildcats by averaging 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists while playing in 25 games. The product of Argyle, Texas, is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and during the summer of 2020 participated in the Athletes in Action Virtual Leadership Academy.
"We are excited for Syd to get this experience through the 'So You Want To Be a Coach' program," said K-State head coach Jeff Mittie. "She has a bright future ahead of her and this will help her immensely in her growth."
The objectives of the "So" program are to increase the understanding and application of skills necessary to secure coaching positions in women's basketball, increase the understanding and awareness of competencies necessary for success in coaching, introduce female basketball players to coaches and administrators, and raise awareness of the existing talent pool of female basketball players who have a passion and interest in coaching the game of women's basketball.
K-State concluded the 53rd season in program history. The Wildcats will return 2021 All-Big 12 recipients Lee and Carr and preseason 2020-21 All-Big 12 honorable mention selection Ranke for the 2021-22 season. K-State also adds 2021 signees Brylee Glenn, Jaelyn Glenn and Serena Sundell to next season's roster.
