Tillmanns Set to Compete at 2021 NCAA Stillwater Regional
May 14, 2021 | Men's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Thanks to a successful sophomore campaign, Kansas State men's golf sophomore Tim Tillmanns will compete at the 2021 NCAA Stillwater Regional, Monday through Wednesday, at the par-72, 7,502-yard Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The three-day, 54-hole format will consist of 18 holes each day. The five lowest teams and one individual not on an advancing team will proceed to the 2021 NCAA Championship, May 28-June 2, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
"We are excited for Tim as he prepares for regionals this week," head coach Grant Robbins said. "Karsten Creek is a tremendous course, and a course that I think will fit Tim very well. Tim is a very good ball striker, and this course demands precision both off the tee and especially into the greens. It's a great opportunity for him, and I am looking forward to watching him compete."
K-State, which was one of the first teams left out of the field, will send Tillmanns, the seventh-seeded individual in the regional, to compete in his first-career NCAA postseason appearance. Tillmanns notched two top-five finishes this year, including a tie for second at the Husker invitational to help the Wildcats claim a share of the team title. When the Cologne, Germany product tees off, it will mark the third-straight time that K-State has sent at least one individual to a regional.
Karsten Creek Golf Club, the home course of Big 12 foe Oklahoma State, has hosted NCAA Championships in 2002, 2011, and most recently 2018, the year the Cowboys won their 11th National Championship.
Oklahoma State is the first seed in the regional, followed by Illinois, Auburn, SMU, Notre Dame, Alabama, Baylor, Sam Houston State, Little Rock, Ole Miss, Northwestern, College of Charleston and Middle Tennessee.
The 2021 NCAA Stillwater Regional begins with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the morning. Live scoring can be followed along at www.golfstat.com.
