
K-State to Host Preseason WNIT Games

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State women's basketball will play and host the 2021 Preseason WNIT as part of its 2021-22 non-conference schedule. Games in Bramlage Coliseum will be played on Friday, November 12 to Monday, November 15. Joining the Wildcats for the games in Manhattan are UT Martin, Western Kentucky and North Carolina A&T.
The 2021 Preseason WNIT features two four-team pods and a three-game guarantee. This is the 27th Preseason WNIT event and the first since the 2019-20 season. This will be the second appearance in the Preseason WNIT for the Wildcats. K-State's first appearance came in 2002, as K-State captured the title with four straight wins to begin the 2002-03 season.
In the 2021 Preseason WNIT, K-State will begin action by hosting UT Martin on Friday, November 12, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a matchup against Western Kentucky on Sunday, November 14, at 1 p.m., and conclude by tangling with North Carolina A&T on Monday, November 15, at 6:30 p.m.
K-State will finish action in the 2021 Preseason WNIT at North Carolina State on Friday, November 19.
UT Martin finished the 2020-21 season with a 22-6 overall record and regular season champions of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Skyhawks played in the 2021 WNIT and captured the consolation championship by defeating Illinois State. This will be the first meeting between K-State and UT-Martin.
Western Kentucky ended the 2020-21 season with a 7-16 overall record. This will be the third meeting between K-State and Western Kentucky, as the series is tied at one apiece. The last meeting between the squads came on March 28, 2006, in Manhattan, as the Wildcats downed the Lady Toppers, 57-56 in overtime, in the 2006 WNIT.
North Carolina A&T capped their 2020-21 season with a 14-3 overall record. The Aggies won the Southern Division of the MEAC and captured the 2021 MEAC tournament title. North Carolina A&T fell in the first round to North Carolina State in the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament. This will be the first meeting between K-State and North Carolina A&T.
NC State finished the 2020-21 season with a 22-3 overall record and was a one-seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack reached the Sweet 16 before falling to Indiana.
The Wolfpack lead the all-time series with K-State, 2-1. The Wildcats won the last meeting, 67-50, in the 2016 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Ticket information for the 2021 Preseason WNIT will be announced later this summer.
For the 2021-22 season, the Wildcats will return eight letter winners led by 2022 All-America candidate Ayoka Lee and All-Big 12 candidate Rachel Ranke. K-State will add the services of five newcomers including: Rebekah Dallinger (Sydney, Australia), Brylee Glenn (Raymore, Missouri), Jaelyn Glenn (Raymore, Missouri) Malene Lind Pederson (Aabyhoj, Denmark) and Serena Sundell (Maryville, Missouri).
