Sep 22, 2021 | Tennis
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's tennis team will open their Fall season this weekend with a trip to Oxford, Miss., to compete in the Ole Miss Fall Invite. The three-day tournament will begin at 9 a.m., CT on Friday (September 24) and run through Sunday (September 26) at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
K-State will be joined in the field by SEC foes Alabama, Georgia and host Ole Miss. The doubles matches will start each day at 9 a.m., CT followed by the singles matches at 10 a.m., CT.
"It's great to finally be back in competition," said head coach Jordan Smith. "It's been about five months since our players competed wearing K-State uniforms. Plus, our two freshmen that are playing as part of the Purple family for the first time. We're starting off in a great event down at Ole Miss. I wanted to give our team a change of pace from flighted draws and give us a taste of a team format before the spring season. It's going to be beneficial for us to play against three teams that made the (NCAA) tournament last season, especially since we want to be on the same list next May!"
The Wildcats will face off against Ole Miss on Friday morning in doubles' matches followed by singles' competition with Alabama. Saturday will begin with a doubles' matches against Georgia followed by singles matches against Ole Miss at 10 a.m., CT.
