
Sundell Earns Third Big 12 Freshman of the Week Honor

MANHATTAN, Kansas – For her efforts in K-State's pair of road wins and a 3-0 start to Big 12 play for the first time since the 2011-12 season, freshman guard Serena Sundell was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.
As a team, K-State has collected five Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors this season as Sundell and Brylee Glenn (twice) have earned the honors. Overall, K-State has received a Big 12 weekly honor eight times this season when including Ayoka Lee's three Big 12 Player of the Week honors.
Last week, Sundell averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds, two blocks and a steal in the two games.
In her first career Big 12 road game, Sundell tallied career-highs with seven rebounds and four blocked shots at Oklahoma State. She also added seven assists and five points to her final line during K-State's first Big 12 road win since the 2019-20 season.
At West Virginia on Saturday, Sundell carded her third career 20-point game as she led all scorers with 21 points while handing out nine assists, pulling in five rebounds and pocketing two steals. This was her fifth game this season with 10 or more points and five or more assists.
Through 15 career games, Sundell has more assists than any freshman in K-State history (83) through the same period. She has nine games this season with five or more assists.
This season, Sundell is averaging 10.7 points, 5.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds. She ranks second in the nation among freshmen guards in assists and assists per game.
K-State will return to Bramlage Coliseum on Tuesday night, as the Wildcats host (12/12) Iowa State at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for Tuesday's game can be purchased at kstatesports.com/tickets, calling (800) 221-CATS or in person at the K-State Athletics Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum.
